Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most common questions we receive from prospective participants. If you have a question that is not covered here, please feel free to reach out at (864) 653-0570.
Would it be better to attend a large or small class for a trial?
Many prospective students prefer to attend smaller sessions. This provides more time for guidance and also provides a less stressful first class.
Which classes are the largest?
Although class sizes fluctuate, Monday classes generally have the highest enrollment.
What should I wear to the first class?
Students train barefoot, so prepare to remove shoes before entering the training floor. For clothing, students should wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants and t-shirt. Students should also bring a water bottle for hydration.
Where is Clemson Martial Arts located?
Our address is 203 Pendleton Rd., Clemson, SC. We are next to Colombo’s Pizza and the Clemson Montessori School. Additional parking is available in the rear of the building.
What if my child is really nervous?
If you have any questions or concerns regarding a child being nervous, we have two or three strategies we can implement that will help.
- We know your child is hopefully coming in for an orientation and participating in class, but don’t let them think about that for too long as it will grow in their head and they might have some wild ideas about what class looks like and what will be expected of them * see video to help
- If a child decides to watch, we don’t want that to feel like a failure. You can tell them you are just bringing them in to “check it out” and they can just watch if they want. That way, if we don’t get them to participate, they feel ‘neutral’ and if they do participate, they get to have a “win.”
- Children think that being brave and being scared are opposites, but they are partners and come together. You can’t be brave unless you face fear. One of our first life lessons we teach at Clemson Martial Arts is that facing fears leads to new amazing opportunities. Most of the time we’ll get them out there – even if its just a one-on-one in the other room with the parent.
- Pro-tip: wear slip-on shoes so its easier for your child (and you when necessary) to come out and train.
Is there any obligation to enroll?
Our trials are truly free and we respect your decision as to whether to continue or not.

Mr. Toran at Kuk Sool has been a wonderful help in determining which classes my kids should be in & very understanding and encouraging regarding our specific needs. My 3 & 4 y/o love Ninja Tots & my older two are super excited about their martial arts class.

This place is hands down the best thing I ever did for my son. He asked for more classes after 2 times of going. He never does that! Love the instructors and the reinforcement of doing your best, you can see that being taught and carried out throughout their own lives.
